Diesel generators in the Maldives — FAQ.
Who supplies Cummins generators in the Maldives?
NativeWay Maldives Pvt. Ltd. supplies and installs Cummins-powered generator sets across the Maldives — Cummins engines from the 6BTA5.9 to the QSK series, paired with STAMFORD alternators, packaged as our NativeMax range from 60 kVA to 2,500 kVA per set. We design and build complete resort powerhouses from 1 MW to 15 MW, and back every installation with Malé-based service, spare parts and overhaul teams.
Is a Cummins-powered OEM generator different from a Cummins-branded generator?
Where it matters — no. Cummins Inc. sells the same engine models to OEM generator packagers worldwide; a Cummins KTA38-G or QSK23 on an OEM skid is the identical engine, with the same genuine Cummins parts, the same Fleetguard filters, the same overhaul intervals and the same global support network. STAMFORD alternators are themselves built by Cummins Generator Technologies, a Cummins Inc. company. What differs between gensets is the packaging, the switchgear, and above all the engineering of the installation — which is the part NativeWay owns.
What generator capacities do you supply?
Single sets from 60 kVA guest-house units to 2,500 kVA prime-power machines, and complete multi-set synchronised powerhouses from 1 MW to 15 MW for large resort and multi-island developments. Sets are configured for prime or standby duty, open or containerised, with marine-grade corrosion protection for atoll sites.
Do you install complete resort power plants?
Yes — that is our core offer. Load survey and demand modelling, powerhouse layout design, N+1 genset sizing, synchronising and load-sharing switchgear, bulk and day fuel-tank systems fabricated in-house, exhaust and acoustic engineering, ventilation, cabling and earthing, then load testing and commissioning. We also design powerhouses hybrid-ready for solar PV and battery integration.
Who makes STAMFORD alternators?
STAMFORD is a brand of Cummins Generator Technologies, a Cummins Inc. company, and is the most widely specified industrial alternator brand in the region. A generator set combining a Cummins engine with a STAMFORD alternator is Cummins technology at both ends of the shaft.
Do you service and repair Cummins generators in the Maldives?
Yes — our Malé team services, repairs and overhauls Cummins, Deutz, Caterpillar and Perkins generators across the atolls, up to complete engine replacements such as the Cummins QSX15-G8 change-out delivered at InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau in 2026. Supply customers get priority AMC response, Malé parts stock and genuine Cummins spares.
Do your generators meet resort EIA requirements for smoke, air quality and noise?
Yes. Every generator we install carries a two-stage exhaust emission cleaning system — a catalytic converter that converts poisonous carbon monoxide and fuel vapours into harmless CO₂ and water (up to 90% removed), followed by a catalysed soot filter that removes a guaranteed minimum of 80% of black smoke — plus twin silencers bringing noise to ≤65 dB(A) at 1 metre. No chemical dosing or AdBlue is needed, and plants are engineered to meet resort Environmental Impact Assessment requirements, with test certificates and documentation for your consultants.
How do you deliver and install generators on resort islands?
Everything is planned around island logistics: sets and switchgear are consolidated in Malé, moved by landing craft or barge, rigged into the powerhouse with our own crews, and commissioned by the same engineers who designed the plant. Fuel tanks and attenuators are fabricated in-house before the boat leaves — so the seaplane window is never wasted.
