NativeWay Maldives Pvt. Ltd. — after-sales built for islands.

NativeWay Maldives Pvt. Ltd. is the Maldives subsidiary of NativeWay (Pvt) Ltd., Sri Lanka's MEP engineering firm since 1942 — with a full local company setup in Malé since 2023. From our Malé base we run a year-round after-sales operation for resort, atoll and industrial properties — covering everything from a single emergency water-pump replacement to a coordinated programme of generator major overhauls across multiple gensets.

What sets the Malé operation apart isn't a service catalogue — it's the logistics. Atoll work means parts have to be in Malé before a boat leaves, fabrication has to be finished before the seaplane window closes, and the engineer who quoted the job has to be the one who finishes it on the island. Our service team is structured around exactly that.

Why this matters at a Maldivian resort: when a generator drops at 2 a.m., the cost isn't fuel — it's air-conditioning gone for paying guests, fridges and water-makers offline, and a reputation event. Scheduled overhauls prevent that. Our Malé stock and boat-deployed crews handle it when prevention fails.

The Maldives after-sales scope is wider than most service catalogues. Most of these are jobs we've completed in the last 24 months at Cinnamon and Heritance properties; all of them are quoted with a written condition or scope report before work begins.

Engine major overhauls

Full strip-down, crankshaft recondition or replace, all liners and bearings, complete rebuild with load-bank test — Deutz, Cummins, Caterpillar, Perkins.

Top-end overhauls

Cylinder-head removal, valve seat regrind, injector overhaul, top-end gaskets — engine remains in situ. Typical 6,000-10,000-hour interval.

Engine repairs

Water pump, injector pump, turbocharger, sensor and control-board repairs. Common spares stocked in Malé to compress downtime.

Exhaust systems & cladding

Exhaust pipework fabrication, expansion bellows, flange welding. Mineral-wool / ceramic-fibre lagging finished in stainless-steel jacketing — touch-safe surface.

Sound attenuators

Splitter and parallel-baffle attenuators — designed, fabricated and installed. Renovation of existing attenuators where acoustic infill has degraded.

Silencer works

Residential-grade and industrial silencers, exhaust mufflers, fabrication and installation. Replacement of corroded silencer bodies on coastal sites.

Ducting works

GI and stainless ducting fabrication and install — HVAC supply & return, kitchen exhaust, generator-room ventilation, laundry, fan-coil and plant-room runs.

Gas line installations

LPG and natural-gas line installation for resort kitchens, laundry equipment and standby fuel systems. Pressure-tested before commissioning.

Most resort generators are set up to run 24/7 carrying full island load. Scheduled overhauls keep them there. NativeWay assesses every set with a written condition report before quoting, so the resort only pays for the work the engine actually needs.

Major overhaul · in-situ or workshop

Full strip, recondition, rebuild — test under load before handover.

A major overhaul means crankshaft polish or grind, full bearing set, complete liner replacement, all pistons and rings, fuel-injection-pump service and a fresh top-end. The engine comes back to within OEM tolerance on every measurement — we don't sign off until it runs clean on a load-bank test.

Where the island doesn't have lifting capacity, we pull the engine to our Malé workshop. Where it does, we mobilise the team and complete the job in-situ. Either way, the resort engineer gets the assessment, the parts list and the schedule in writing first.

Top overhaul · 6,000-10,000 hours

Top-end work — the right job for most service intervals.

Cylinder-head removal, valve seat regrind, injector overhaul, head bolts torque-checked, top-end gaskets renewed. The engine stays on the foundation, the work finishes in 3-5 working days, and the running hours reset on a baseline you can plan future intervals against.

A bare exhaust pipe on a resort genset can sit at 350-450 °C. That radiates straight into the engine room, lifts intake-air temperature, drops engine efficiency, and is a burn hazard for the on-call engineer. NativeWay clads exhaust pipework in mineral-wool or ceramic-fibre insulation, finished in 0.5-0.7 mm stainless-steel jacketing.

Resort engine rooms typically need 15-25 dB(A) of attenuation at the room boundary to keep guest-facing noise levels acceptable. We design and fabricate splitter-type attenuators (parallel acoustic infill plates inside a GI casing) for new installations, and we renovate existing attenuators where the acoustic media has degraded with age or salt-air ingress.

Ducting works — fabricated to fit any plant room or back-of-house.

Ducting is one of those quiet capabilities that touches almost every MEP system on a resort — HVAC supply and return, kitchen exhaust hoods, laundry vent, fan-coil distribution, generator-room ventilation, plant-room transfers. NativeWay Malé fabricates GI and stainless ducting in-house and installs to spec on the resort island.

LPG and standby-fuel gas lines

LPG distribution lines for resort main kitchens, secondary outlets and bar stations. Standby-fuel gas line systems where required. We size pipework to flow and pressure drop, install pressure-regulation stations, fit safety solenoids and gas detectors, and pressure-test the system before commissioning — with documentation handed to the resort's safety officer.

In-house welding & fabrication

Every cladding job, attenuator, duct run, silencer and gas line ultimately comes down to clean welding and accurate fabrication. We run that capability in-house in Malé — structural steel, sheet work, plate work, stainless fabrication and on-site mobile welding when the work has to happen in the engine room.

From first call to handover — five steps, no surprises.

Resort AMC — scheduled maintenance built around the season.

A NativeWay Maldives AMC covers quarterly genset inspection, oil and filter changes, fuel polishing, battery testing, ATS calibration, load-bank testing and emergency callout — priced per generator per year. Scope flexes to the resort: smaller properties typically take a single-day quarterly visit; larger properties run a multi-day quarterly with rotating set focus.

For active AMC holders: priority engineer response by phone, fast mobilisation from Malé (sea conditions permitting). Critical spares pre-staged. Scheduled visits aligned with the resort's low-season maintenance window.

Do you fabricate sound attenuators in the Maldives?

Yes — we fabricate splitter and parallel-baffle attenuators for resort generator rooms, both for new installations and renovation of existing attenuators where the acoustic infill has degraded. We typically reduce in-room sound pressure by 15-25 dB(A) at the engine-room boundary, which matters for guest-facing resort properties.

What about exhaust cladding and lagging?

We clad generator exhaust pipework in mineral-wool or ceramic-fibre insulation finished in 0.5-0.7 mm stainless-steel jacketing. This drops exhaust-pipe surface temperature from 350-450 °C to under 60 °C (touch-safe), recovers radiated heat that would otherwise overheat the engine room, and protects exhaust pipework from sea-air corrosion.

Do you handle gas line installation in the Maldives?
